Biography

Dr. Md. Robiul Hoque is a Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, Islamic University, Kushtia. He has completed his PhD in Electronic Engineering from Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Korea in 2016. Before that he completed his B.Sc and M.Sc in Computer Science and Engineering from Islamic University, Bangladesh in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

Development of Context-Aware Smart Personal Office Room

To ease a person’s daily life, personalized automated services are becoming popular day by day. People are normally passing busy time during his/her office hours. Sometime, they forget to turn ON/OFF the office appliances such as light, fan, heater and air conditioner etc. when they stay/leave their personal office room respectively. An automated system can minimize this problem by turning ON/OFF the office appliance based on available context information. In this research, we develop a context-aware system to control office appliances. Where, context is any information which is relevant to proposed system. In this case, user’s presence in the room, time in a day, room temperature, illuminance etc. are the example of context. This system will increase user satisfaction in office as well as decrease power consumption. We complete this research in two phases. Firstly, we calculate user current location on base of surrounding contexts and finally, we provide proper services to the user by controlling office appliances. It also has done on the base of available contexts.

Design and Development of a Smart Conference Room: A Case Study for Academic Project Defense Automation

The conference room is a meeting place where people are discussing and sharing their views among others. Smart conference room equipped with modern technology can ease the presentation processes for both presenter and audiences. In this research, we propose a smart conference room which will facilitate the project defense session for university students. This system will collect information from ambient environment and provide automated services to carry out the presentation. For example, it will send SMS to the participants prior the starting of the presentation for confirming their presence. During presentation period, it will identify the present examinees and examiners and count their presence. Consequently, it will remind the absent participants through SMS. Most interesting feature of the system is running personalized presentation slide automatically, when a presenter comes closer to the podium. This system also controls temperature and light of the conference room for making comfortable environment for the audiences as well as ensuring optimal power consumption.
